Here is how you can get started:

Step 1: Account Sign Up/Login

To schedule a tax payment on CardUp; sign up for a free CardUp account, or log in here if you are an existing user.

Step 2: Create a payment

Once you're logged in, click on "Create Payment"

Step 3: Select Payment Category

Select "Taxes" as the payment category.

Step 4: Select "Income Tax"

Click on IRAS - Income Tax tab to set up your payment.

Step 5: Fill in your Payment details

Then, you will be directed to "Tell us more about your payment" where you need to fill in as follows:-

  • Payment Amount: If you're on monthly GIRO, your tax statement may show varying amounts. To use a promo code (if applicable), be sure to set up a series of payments after the first one, as some codes are single-use. You can adjust the amount after setup, but it should match the tax payable shown on your statement. Payments exceeding the limit will be marked as "Pending" for review. For changes, please refer to this guide.

  • Credit card: Select the card you wish to be charged to. Do add in your card and ensure the registered billing address on the card level matches with what you have updated with your card issuer. Aside from that, do note that most of our promo codes are applicable for Singapore-issued VISA credit cards. If you happen to own VISA cards, feel free to use them to enjoy a lower processing fee for your tax payment.

  • Payment Plan: You have the option to speed up your payment payout as early as 1 business day (excluding Public Holidays and Weekends).

    • A. Standard Payment: Your payout will be done within 3 business days after your credit card has been successfully charged.

    • B. Next business day payment: Payout will be done on the next business days once your card is successfully charged, with an additional of 0.3% charge on top of the normal processing fee.

  • Repeat payment: You can set up your payment as a one-time or recurring repayment.

    • A. One-time payment: You do not need a GIRO for a single payment, but it is important to inform IRAS to avoid tax payment complications. If you choose "Never", you only need to provide one payment date. Note: We have limited the available due dates to avoid conflicts with IRAS notification periods.

  • B. Every month: CardUp pays in advance and we advise against cancelling your GIRO arrangement. To prevent any complications, we suggest scheduling your tax payment at least 2 weeks before the deadline to avoid any notification from IRAS to your bank about the GIRO deduction. We can demonstrate how to set up your payments with CardUp if needed.

The first payment starts from May 2025 till March 2026:

Start Date: May 2025

  • GIRO deduction: Meant for May tax due

  • CardUp payment: Meant for June tax due

June 2025 onwards:

  • Only CardUp payment (GIRO no longer experiences deduction): Meant for July 2025 tax due and so on.

End Date: March 2026

  • Last payment due on CardUp for April 2026 tax due

  • Note: There's no further requirement to make a tax settlement in April 2026 as everything has been paid in advance.

Note: We recommend selecting the 12th of each month as your payment due date to allow IRAS sufficient time to reconcile the payment. However, you are free to choose any other available date as your preferred due date.

  • Payment reference: Your payment reference will be pre-filled with the NRIC/FIN number linked to your CardUp account and will not be editable. Therefore, you will not be allowed to make tax payments on behalf of someone else.

  • Promo or referral: If you have any promo or referral to be utilised, kindly key in the code in this text field. Don't miss the chance to set up your payment with a lower processing fee.

  • Fee summary: It will show you the full chargeable fee based on your payment amount. But do note that if you applied a promo or referral code, the new fees will only be shown on the "Final Review Page", after you click on "Continue".

Step 6: Document

Lastly, you are also required to upload an up-to-date copy (not a screenshot) of the tax statement to help our team with payment verification. Refer here on how to obtain your income tax statement.

Please ensure the supporting document is either:-

  • Notice of assessment (NOA) for one time-off payment OR

  • GIRO monthly payment plan (NOTA) for monthly repayment

Do ensure to upload copies of your supporting document with sizes not exceeding 25MB and <10 documents.

*Kindly be advised that a provisional plan document will not be considered valid.*

Step 7: Review

You will be able to review the overall payment request (including the total fee charged after promo is applied) before proceeding with payment checkout. If all is good, you may proceed to click on "Create

Payment". Note: There will be a pre-authorisation charge of SGD0.50 which will be refunded back to your credit card in a few days.

Step 8: Payments Dashboard

You will be able to find all your scheduled payments reflected on CardUp homepage> specifically under the "Upcoming" tab.
